Duplex 2205 is a nitrogen-enhanced dual-phase austenitic-ferritic stainless steel characterized by an approximately 50/50 phase balance. This dual microstructure combines the superior chloride stress-corrosion cracking resistance of ferritic steels with the high toughness, weldability, and fabrication ease of austenitic alloys. With approximately 22% Chromium, 5% Nickel, 3% Molybdenum, and 0.17% Nitrogen, Duplex 2205 achieves a Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN) exceeding 35, delivering nearly double the design yield strength of standard austenitic 316L.

Our Duplex 2205 plates and sheets comply with ASTM A240 / ASME SA240, while our seamless and welded pipes conform to ASTM A790 / A928. Pressure fittings and flanges conform to ASTM A182 Grade F51 / F60. We maintain ready stocks from 1.0 mm sheet up to 60 mm heavy plate, alongside pipe diameters from 1/2 inch NB to 16 inches NB in Schedule 40S and 80S.

Every lot of Duplex 2205 supplied by Tatvam Overseas Inc undergoes microstructural ferrite count determination (ASTM E562), Charpy V-Notch impact testing at -40°C, and ferric chloride pitting corrosion testing in accordance with ASTM G48 Method A. Dispatches include full EN 10204 Type 3.1 Mill Test Certificates with certified heat traceability.
